Why isn’t my copy converting?
Want a pair of fresh eyes on your copy? Want feedback on copy you’ve written yourself or hired another copywriter to write for you?
A copy review can be a great way to identify how you can improve the results you’re getting from your copy, why your copy might not be converting, or how you can guide your potential customers to take the next step.
The copy review service will give you a video where I talk through your copy. I’ll highlight 3-5 of the highest-leverage things you can do to move the needle and make your copy more likely to convert.
You could review your copy yourself…
Check your copy against this list to see if you can spot any areas for improvement.
- Is the copy “you-centered” or “me-centered“? If it’s tooting your own horn, remember that your readers are always asking themselves, “What’s in it for me?” Do a word search for every instance of the words, “I, me, my, we, us, our,” and “ours.” See if you can rewrite the sentence to use “you,” “your,” or “yours” instead.
- Is the copy clear and understandable? Could a 4th grader read it? Try handing it to a 4th grader and see if they stumble and get stuck or confused. If they do, rewrite the copy with simpler words and grammar. Trust me. Your readers are going to be rushing, skimming, and scanning. Reading comprehension goes down drastically when this happens. Shoot for writing at a 4th grade level for most copy.
- Does the copy use natural-sounding language? Would you talk like that if you were saying it out loud? Try the OYFOL method: Read your copy On Your Feet, Out Loud. Highlight any phrases that sound awkward or weird, and rewrite them to sound more like people actually talk.
- Does your copy have a strong headline? The headline is one of the most important pieces of your copy. Often, simply switching out your headline can make the difference between a high-converting offer and a mediocre one. A great headline will grab the attention of your prospective client, make an irresistible promise, and compel them to keep reading.
Or you could have me review your copy for you…
The above list is just a start. I’ll evaluate your copy for the effectiveness of the sales pitch, any areas where you could reduce friction, structural changes that you could make, suggested A/B tests you could run, and much more.
After performing more than 200 copy reviews for clients in all sorts of industries, I’ve noticed a lot of common patterns and possible upgrades that most people can make to their copy. I’ll suggest edits that are clear and easy for you to implement. My clients have found my copy reviews extremely helpful and insightful.

How much does this cost?
The real question is, how much money are you losing by having poorly converting copy? How much is every new client potentially worth to you? How much are you missing out on because of a sales pitch that feels awkward or unclear to your potential customers?
